Throwback Thursday | Steve Olson – Fulfill the Dream

Today marks two years since Guru, the front man of the legendary hip-hop duo Gang Starr, died of a heart attack. Gang Starr’s songs are littered throughout skateboard videos in the 1990s and had a huge influence on an array of artists from Wu-Tang and Jay-Z, to RJD2 and Christina Aguilera (Preemo has in fact produced a hit single for Christina). To pay homage to Guru and DJ Premier, check out Steve Olson’s part in Fulfill the Dream where he skates to “Above the Clouds”, the last big Gang Starr joint to blow before the duo split up in 1998.

The Last Time You Tie Your Shoe Laces…

We consider our customers the lifeblood of our operation, and every so often we ship to people who stand out. On this occasion, author, poet, and BuySkateShoes customer, Ryan Buynak, sent us a pleasant surprise in the form of original literature.  I’m usually not one for poetry, but Buynak has a way of appealing to “people who don’t know sh*t about poetry”.  We’ve been passing it around the office for about a week now and have enjoyed his random acts of poetry.  Here’s a relavent excerpt from Buynak’s “Yo Quiero Mas Sangre.”

Buy Buynak’s “Yo Quiero Mas Sangre, random acts of poetry” on Amazon and then lace up those sneakers. Thanks again Ryan.
