Back in the late 80s and early 90s skateboarding thrived on a “do-it-yourself” mentality. It was not accepted by the mainstream; it was hiphop, it was punk rock, it was a counterculture.
Before Shaun White’s signature jeans landed in Target, the only way to get a product catered to skateboarders were through companies founded by skateboarders. Enter Keith Hufnagel, the founder of HUF.
Hufnagel’s approach to streetwear and skate apparel remains deeply rooted in the rough, gritty, DIY mindset. His first love has always been and always will be skateboarding. He continues to give back to his roots through the products and opportunities he provides through the company, maintaining the respect and influence HUF has over the skateboard, streetwear, and sneaker communities.
We are proud to be an official dealer of HUF apparel and sneakers. Here’s what’s new from HUF on BuySkateShoes.
These cozy button-ups have made a big come back since the early nineties and for good reason; they posses the timeless ability to make any outfit comfortable and warm. Match them with a pair of jeans and skate shoes and you have a go-to get up for the entire season. Here are some of our favorite flannels currently gracing our our shelves.
The men’s Burton Ruckus Hooded Flannel and its hoodie/flannel combo package is worn by the entire Burton snowboard team pretty much. Its lightweight warmth/quick-drying technical properties are perfect for Winter skateboarding.
We recently put Habitat Footwear back on our shelves and to celebrate we’re hooking up a free beanie with any Habitat Footwear purchase *while supplies last. For more details contact us at (866) 355-7463 or email [email protected] Click here to browse the full selection of Habitat Footwear

Today marks two years since Guru, the front man of the legendary hip-hop duo Gang Starr, died of a heart attack. Gang Starr’s songs are littered throughout skateboardvideos in the 1990s and had a huge influence on an array of artists from Wu-Tang and Jay-Z, to RJD2 and Christina Aguilera (Preemo has in fact produced a hit single for Christina). To pay homage to Guru and DJ Premier, check out Steve Olson’s part in Fulfill the Dream where he skates to “Above the Clouds”, the last big Gang Starr joint to blow before the duo split up in 1998.
DC Shoes welcomes newcomers Mike Mo Capaldi and Nyjah Huston: two sub 21 year-old powerhouses known for their consistency and technical abilities. This announcement was made in conjunction with the new REDISCOVER DC campaign, launched over the past weekend.
“The campaign aims to highlight the caliber of athletes that ride for DC and invites consumers to rediscover the fact that skateboarding is the driving force behind the DC brand.”
Huston and Capaldi join the likes of Chris Cole, Danny Way, Rob Dyrdek, Josh Kalis, Steve Berra, Colin McKay, Matt Miller, Wes Kremer, and Mike Taylor. One SM user dubbed the team as “The New York Yankees of Skateboarding.”
